1. Why use a Pressure Mat Sensor with a boat alarm?

The pressure mat sensor provides boat security after an intruder has boarded your boat. Hide the pressure pad under a rug so when the intruder steps on the pad the alarm siren will sound. Care must be taken with the pressure mat sensor to carefully hide the wires and the pressure mat itself as no alarm will occur if the wires to the pressure mat are cut.
The pressure mat sensor is compatible with all of our boat alarms.
The pressure mat sensor sensor is available in two sizes, An 18" x 24" and an 24" x 30". The pressure mat can be rolled and stored when not in use. Do not roll the mat across the ribs but the pad can be rolled with the ribs.
Getting the pressure mat wet does not cause harm to it.

When an intruder steps on the rug in order to open the door, the pressure mat causes the boat alarm to trigger the alarm siren.

2. How does it work?

The pressure mat sensor is a normally-open alarm circuit. When an intruder steps on the pressure mat closes the alarm circuit and triggers the siren. The pressure mat is wired to alarm zone 3. CAUTION: If wires to the pressure mat are cut the alarm will not trigger the siren. The wires must be well hidden or placed so that they are not accessible to an intruder. The pressure mat should never be used as the only alarm sensor.
